Illinois DCEO B.I.G. Grants

The Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) is launching the first round of Business Interruption Grants (BIG) by providing $60 million to businesses experiencing losses or business interruption as a result of COVID-19 related closures. The BIG Program is available for bars, restaurants, barbershops, salons, and gyms-fintess centers that experienced a limited ability to operate due to COVID-19 related closures. DCEO will begin distributing funds to qualifying businesses in early July. The total program funding will amount to at least $540 million in grants for small businesses, $270 million of which has been set aside for childcare providers and is funded by the CARES Act.  Follow the link below for more information.

COVID-19 Financial Assistance Available

The State of Illinois is allocating an additional $90 million of funding through the Federal Cares Act for a total of $275 million for food, rent, temporary shelter and other essentials for low-income households.  The threshold for assistance has been raised from 150% of the federal poverty level to 200%.  This increase means a family of four with income up to $4,300 per month could qualify for assistance.  For more information or application, go to helpillinoisfamilies.com or call (833) 711-0374.

US Census – Carterville Participation

Ameren Illinois COVID Assistance Programs

Ameren Illinois customers who are having difficulty paying their utility bill are encouraged to apply for funding assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Individuals who normally would not meet LIHEAP income qualifications may now be eligible to receive one-time bill assistance.

Seeking Candidates for Wastewater Plant Positions

The Carterville Water and Sewer Department is seeking candidates with a Class 1, 2, 3, or 4 Wastewater Treatment Operator Certification. Candidates must have an operator certification or experience with the operation and maintenance of equipment used in a wastewater treatment plant. Water Sewer Board Meeting – June 4th

The Carterville Water and Sewer Board Meeting will be held as scheduled on Thursday, June 4 2020 at Carterville City Hall.  Because of the Governor’s Executive Order restricting gatherings to 10 people or less, City Hall will be closed to the public.  Interested parties may participate in the  Meeting by conference call.  The dial-in number and specific committee times are posted on the agenda linked below.  Please contact City Hall with any questions.
