City Hall and Water-Sewer Office Closed to the Public

Due to the increases in COVID-19 cases throughout our region, the Carterville City Hall and Carterville Water & Sewer Office are closed to the public effective November 12, 2020.  The closure will be in effect during the state’s tier 2 mitigations and will be reviewed after that period.  The public is encouraged to contact the offices by phone or use the City’s website www.visitcarterville.com.  For business that requires entry, please make an appointment with City Hall or the Water & Sewer Office.  Feel free to contact the offices (618-985-2252 or 618-985-2011) with any questions.

Municipal Election Filing Dates

For Carterville residents interested in running for the upcoming Municipal Election, the petition packets are available at City Hall. Petitions must be filed with the City Clerk between
December 14-21, 2020, during normal office hours. (Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00am – 5:00pm).

The last day to file a Declaration of Intent to be a write-in candidate is February 4, 2021.  The write-in forms are available from and must be submitted to the Williamson County Clerk’s office.  Questions on a write-in candidacy must be directed to the Williamson County Clerk’s Office, 618-998-2110.

Veteran’s Day Memorial Ceremony – November 11, 2020

The Carterville American Legion Post 347 will be hosting a Veteran’s Day Memorial Ceremony at the Carterville Veteran’s Memorial in downtown Carterville.  Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be live streamed on Facebook by The Carterville Courier.  The ceremony is on November 11, 2020 and begins at 11:00 am.  Follow the link below for The Carterville Courier Facebook event page “Virtual Veteran’s Day Observance”
