Accepting Applications – Cemetery Sexton

The City of Carterville has an immediate opening for a part-time Cemetery Sexton position.

Candidates must have minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in locating grave sites for burials/monument placements, maintaining cemetery records, and issuing cemetery deeds preferred.

Accepting Applications – Street Department

The City of Carterville has an immediate opening for a full-time Streets and Parks position.

Candidates must have minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Experience in street maintenance, concrete work, operation of machinery, and minor electrical and plumbing knowledge is preferred. Must be able to obtain a Class B CDL within six months.

Accepting Applications – Firefighter

The City of Carterville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners is now accepting applications for full-time Firefighter/Paramedic testing as well as qualified entry candidates. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 21 – 35 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED. Applicants must also have a valid Illinois Paramedic or EMT license, or ability to obtain license reciprocity. A copy of GED/High School Diploma and birth certificate are required with application. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony and must qualify medically under the Board of Fire and Police Commission regulations. Selection process will include basic application review and acceptance by the Board of Fire and Police Commission, a physical fitness assessment, written test, oral interviews, psychological evaluation and background investigation. New hires must live within a 6 minute response time from the Carterville Fire Department.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, 21 – 35 years old and possess a High School Diploma or GED. A copy of GED/High School Diploma and birth certificate are required with application. Applicants must not have been convicted of a felony and must qualify medically under the Board of Fire and Police Commission regulations. Selection process will include basic application review and acceptance by the Board of Fire and Police Commission, a physical fitness assessment, written test, oral interviews, psychological evaluation and background investigation. Qualified entry candidates must have worked full-time as a sworn, certified officer in Illinois within the last two years. New hires must live or relocate within the Carterville Unit 5 School District.

Boil Water Order

07/15/2022, 6:15am: Due to a water main break, a boil water order has been issued for all Carterville Water Customers until further notice.  Remember to bring water used for drinking and cooking to a rolling boil for at least 5 minutes. Contact the Carterville Water Department with any questions.
