2024 Solar Eclipse! Monday April 8th

Visitors from far and near are welcome to join us at Cannon Park for this once in a lifetime event! While we do not have any organized plans in the works, we have plenty of open space for viewing and free parking. All we ask is that you respect our park, clean up your trash, and park in the designated areas marked. PLEASE do not disturb the soccer fields, or other grassy areas that are not designated on the map. We look forward to a pleasant, family friendly time and appreciate your cooperation.

Don’t forget about the free parking/viewing opportunities on the campus of John A. Logan College.

John A. Logan College officials have suspended operations and canceled classes on Monday, April 8, due to the Solar Eclipse. The College’s parking lots will be open to the public at no charge to view the Eclipse. Restroom facilities next to the Baseball and Softball fields will also be open to the public. Logan Fitness will be open from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and reopen from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“The College will be a prime viewing location for the Eclipse, and we wanted the public to be able to utilize our parking lots for viewing,” said JALC President Dr. Kirk Overstreet. “We will also open the restroom between the baseball and softball fields. We only ask that you treat the campus like a national park and pack out what you pack in.”

Please call City Hall at 618-985-2252 with any questions.
