Due to a contractor’s mishap installing communication lines, a Carterville water main was damaged today. That damage occurred on Meadowbrook Drive, and water service East of that location had to be shut off to repair the damage. There will be an isolated boil water order for Carterville Water Customers on Meadowbrook, Shady Drive, Main, Sassafras, Wolf Creek, and Old Rt 13 East of Meadowbrook. The boil water order is expected to last 24-48 hours.
Water used for consumption should be brought to a hard boil for at least 5 minutes. Contact the Water & Sewer Department with any questions.
